Things Are Heating Up for McCook Balloon Fest

Working to become one of Nebraska's leading family events, event coordinators of McCook Balloon Fest are working full swing on this year's event that will take place September 8th & 9th, 2007 in McCook.

Joining the ranks of great ballooning events such as the Colorado Balloon Classic and the Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival, McCook Balloon Fest has the potential to really draw attention to Southwest Nebraska. Thirteen pilots are currently registered to fly, and several other pilots are still being considered. It's anticipated that as many as 20 balloons could fly this year.

Registered pilots to date, include:
Gary Born of Colorado Springs, Colorado
Dennis Brown of Denver, Colorado
Bob Bryant of Cheyenne, Wyoming
Don Dougherty of Colorado
Gordon Emry of Cozad, Nebraska
Matthew Grote of Omaha, Nebraska
Scott Nash of Rapid City, South Dakota
Steve LaCroix of Omaha, Nebraska
Kathy McCoy of Cozad, Nebraska
Marv McKinley of Wheat Ridge, Colorado
Dewey Reinhard of Colorado Springs, Colorado
John Kugler of McCook, Nebraska
Ken Tadolini of Denver, Colorado

These hot air balloon pilots are brought in with the help of local businesses that sponsor the event. All area businesses are welcome to participate, and Gondola Level Sponsors get the opportunity to experience ballooning first hand with hot air balloon rides during the event.

How can you experience the thrill of riding in a hot air? Businesses or individuals can sponsor a balloon during McCook Balloon Fest, September 8th & 9th, 2007. For more information on becoming a sponsor, please visit our sponsor page or call Linda Henthorn at 308.345.2280.
